The festival of lights if almost upon us, the malls are pumping out sugary sweet music, and somehow we are celebrating the birth of an infant in a fringe Roman province with a holiday involving Germanic traditions, a fat guy in a red suit, taking place on the same day as an old Roman holiday and often eating birds found in North America.

So I present an old favorite that covers everything:

We usta call it Kwanaa-Hannu-Mas-Stice. Can't forget those witchy pagans and their midwinter birth-of-the-sun-god celebrations.

Amen. I go into a national chain pharmacy today to buy some shampoo. The first 8 feet back of every frickin' aisle is packed with Xmas bu***it. And I love Christmas.

The She-Dino has had the flu all week. Yesterday, the dino finally felt well enough to venture out to a grocery store and was shocked to see Christmas everywhere and hear competing Christmas carols - sort of like dueling banjoes played on the bells.....

I'll pass.

I'm not real eager to sit pantsless on a device manufactured by 'Uncle Booger'.

Especially one with a top end of 100 mph+.

The finest vintage of boxed wine? Overlooks to go with it, of course. ;)

Umm, yeah. Christmas. Goddamit, at 3 years old the whole world was in on the biggest lie ever at a point when we're learning how to trust. Then in preadolescence we're spewed forth having discovered that the now notorius Kringle, who was more endearing than JC, is a big lie.
And they still tell it to the new kids. I'm still mad about it. Not because there's no Santa per se, but because everyone lied right off the bat. Damn it. Poop. :)

The saddest moment for a child is not when he leans Santa Claus isn't real, it's when he learns Chuck Norris is.

How goes it there, man? Probably a ton of hiking trails that you can't really hike safely. That's got to be an additional bummer.:sun

Reasonably well. Fifteen days and then I'll be headed back to the real world.

Have you been out walking?

Not as much as I'd like. Looking forward to Maine in April (some trail maint.) and Baxter to Springer May 31.
Safe travels friend. Any hiking on the agenda when you get Home?
Peace.

In January I'll be heading back and forth over the Appalachians, and am going to a shake down, and South Ruck if the timing works out. I need to see my family and friends, and take care of some stuff in Central America, before I can get out for more than a few days.

Take it easy.
