All I can say is that a fool and their money are soon parted. :datz Besides, who needs a tent when there are perfectly good hammocks out there for use. :D Holy crap, who openend that can of worms?

I'd say it is a hammock, not a tent.

I guess if you can afford the $50,000 tent then you can afford the sherpa to haul it for you.

Hooch

They don't say how much it weighs?People who can just go out and blow $50k on something they might use once either don't have enough sense to ask that question or have someone carry it and set it up for them, so they don't care. :D

Wait a minute, if there's a 9' dia. round object inside that contraption, how big is that freakin' tree???

OK. I checked out this designer/architect's website (http://www.drewapenaar.nl/). Check out the tent village. Hmmmm, perhaps we could have tent villages set up all along the AT to replace the current shelters. :-?

Thanks, Ewker, just trying to learn a little more for section hikes after the first of the year. Bottom line is that I'm trying not to go into next year's hiking "season" blind as I went last year. I'm learning a thing or two. :D

If someone can afford fifty grand for a tent maybe they would just pay us the money to hike the trail for 'em!

maybe we can hook up on some section hikes this yr. My 2 section hikes got cancelled due to surgery. I am so wanting to get out but it will be in Jan sometime...see you at SoRuck

BTW did you get with the NOC to see if any bunk spaces were left?

BTW did you get with the NOC to see if any bunk spaces were left?Cool, but fair warning, I make Slowhike look like a jackrabbit. We're looking at a couple sections this year to do, just trying to pick which ones. I haven't gotten hooked up with NOC yet, just waiting to find out for sure if DevilDoc (Doc) is going with me or not. I should know something in a couple days. I'm hoping they do have a couple bunks left, if not we'll just string up hammocks between bunks. :D

I'll throw down the gauntlet once again: Show me a 'Mocker(hammocker)who spends the whole winter(in the appalachian mountains)in a hammock and I'll . . . I'll . . . send my Hilleberg back/:cool:

We still have much work to do. :D All the Earth must have the glory of the hammock proclaimed to them. :banana

http://shimizu pyramid check out this link for the pyramid of the future. this thing is going to be built with some new tecnology called nanotubes. suposedly builds itself and is lighter and stronger than almost maybe all material used for building... the tent made me think of this

Well, yes. A hammock with a wooden floor
