I am a new member to the forum and wanted to introduce myself and pass along some useful (I hope) info. There are now two outfitters in Luray, Va. Appalachian Outdoors Adventures and Evergreen Outfitters. Between the two of us we can help with just about any gear problem you might have. We do not offer shuttle service but there is someone in town who does. Rodney Ketterman - 540-743-1355. He does charge but not sure how much. You can post resupplies to either one of us and we both offer internet if you need it.
Appalachian Outdoors Adventures - 540-743-7400
Evergreen Outfitters - 540-843-2576

Stop by and say hello.

:welcome Awesome!! We enjoyed visiting your little town about 3 1/2 years ago. We went there for the caverns with our daughter. We were camping along Skyline and loved it!! We'll definitely come by to see you guys when we head back that way on the trail-which can't be soon enough!! Good luck!!

Is there a road or blue blaze trail going down to Luray, VA? When I done the Shanandoah's a few years ago I spent the night near a cabin above Luray and do not remember one.

Thanks for the info. I hiked the SNP this summer and wondered what outfitters were in the area if I needed anything. Main problem for me was that the one in Waynesboro kept bankers' hours (at least for my purposes), so I never got into visit them because of my schedule.

Best to you in your new enterprise!

211 goes right over Skyline Drive and AT. Head West to Luray. There is a Walmart and everything.

Yeah, you can go there and eat the paint off the chinese toys and get a good buzz. They also have good restaurants and excellent motels.

Don't get to Massanutten and think you've reached Skyline.

Did these two outfitters make it into the various Trail guides for 2008?
