Got to have coffee, my first chouse, A couple good spoons full of grown coffee, placed in a coffee filter , tied with dental floss, fishing line, dump the hot water in and you got a good - strong as you like it coffee. 2ed chouse two of the tea bag stile coffee and this is what we will properly have along the trail, 3ed chouse instant. I understand the got to have the coffee. Flowerlady

I read through this thread once, but I'm not going to do it again!
Someone mentioned Thai instant coffee, usually referred to as "3-in-1" with coffee powder, non-dairy creamer and sugar.
I found a brand through google and printed it off to take to the local Asian market. They didn't have the brand in question, but they did have two others. Cost? $2.50 for 12 6-oz servings. I tried one last night, and it is an immediate improvement over my old system of Folger's instant, creammate and sugar for both taste, portability and ease of use.
It may not satisfy the purists or compare with a french press, but I'm looking forward to using it.
