Hi all, my brother an i are looking at doing a section from springer, ga to fontana dam ... We are from pennsylvania and have hiked this area since we were kids ... My main question for now is does anyone know a good area to get back off the trail if we are looking at getting a bus back to pennsylvania .... We picked fontana dam simply to avoid the smokey mountains and its not planed cause i haven't read any information on what we'd need to hike it ... I guess depending on the answer of getting off the trail within the time we have, which is 2 weeks tops from start to end ... We are novice and prolly won't do much more than 12-14 miles a day as we are big guys, we tire quick ... heh ... Also leaving a night or two for a "mini vacation" .... we enjoy camping and i've heard georgia is awesome!!
