If you don't feel like thumbing it ... you can use the local taxi services in town. They're pretty used to catering to hikers. They'll take you all the way up Amicalola Falls, Dahlonega ... and they're very hiker friendly. Some of them will give you 24 hour service. Hikers are a big business there.

I would just walk/hitch-hike.

Consider instead doing the Approach trail from Amicalola? Might be cheaper or easier to hitch getting to the state park instead of a FS road. It's only one extra day of hiking.

Out-of-state hikers who come to Georgia will probably arrive in either Atlanta or Gainesville, GA. Gainesville, about 50 miles northeast of Atlanta, is the closest town to the trail served by public transportation. AMTRAK and Greyhound Bus Lines operate between Atlanta and Gainesville. The easiest and least expensive way to get from Hartsfield Atlanta airport to the bus station in downtown Atlanta, or to the Amtrak station in Midtown Atlanta is to use the Atlanta public transportation, MARTA (Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority). There are also possible car shuttles from Atlanta to the Approach trail at Amicalola Falls State Park. See below, volunteers willing to provide car transportation for hikers.
