Newbie needs info: SOBO Vandeventer thru Russell Field

New to site, thanks for the info..Section hiking from April to August, SOBO, will be staying at shelters, Vandeventer thru Russell Field, during this time. Was wondering what the traffic will be like at the shelters, in essence, how hard will it be to get a spot in those shelters during those months.. Thanks

Enjoy your hike and maybe bring a tent so that the shelter question isn't an issue. With that said if you're at the shelter before 5pm you can probably gaurantee there will be roomfor you inside.

Hope all goes well for your section and you have a great hike. I pass thru your neclk of the woods all the time between Kentucky and western NC and Charlotte.

Thru-hiking season, pretty good chance the shelters will be packed. FWIW, Vandeventter shelter has a great view, but the water source is way down a hill, may want to bring your water.
