Personally, I carry 2. I have one pointed at me and one attached to the back of my pack to help push me up the hills!

August in PA, light rain falling, hot and muggy with the temp in the low 80's. 3 people in the tent bringing it up to 90 degrees... All of a sudden 5 oz per person isn't a lot of extra weight....:)
Seriously, I could see using it for car camping or in the back of my truck on hot summer nights.

I've considered something similar, then realized that jumping in a stream before bed worked better (now how far back was that stream?):-?

That works, just after a long days hike make sure everyone fills their water before you jump in:eek:

I use a Coleman tent fan (no idea what it weighs) It says on the package it runs 14 hrs on 1-D Batt, having used it for 3-years I can say it does last this long before the battery dies. It has a magnet and a metal plate you mount on the outside of the tent to hold it in place anyplace you want it on the tent. It has a soft plastic blade. It moves a fair amount of air for a battery fan. It moves just as much air as the 4-D one I got (and gave away) last year for Christmas. You can buy it at Wal-Mart for $12.00 I’m not a big fan (Pun) of Coleman products as I find a lot of the things they make lacking in quality, but this fan is one of the few things they make that works well. I have 4 of them.

Here is a link to see what it looks like.

Me and my wife have tinnitis. We run a fan at home to sleep better. If this thing makes a bit of noise I would use the hell out of it.:)

It's not even the weight but the room. I know for a fact I would have a tough tim fitting that thing into my ruck lol.

Laugh, but I carried a very small computer cpu cooling fan and 2 paralleled 9 v batteries (made for 12v but runs above 6v) to move some air through the eyebrow vent on my tent. Helped lots with condensation. The batteries would give me 3-4 nites of use. The fans come in a wide range of sizes and current consumption.

We have 2 fans that that we use car camping. Of course we have a Sierra Design Bedoiun 4 man--lots of room for the fans. We love them. We also sleep with fans at home. To me, car camping is about the luxary. :)

How long you think it will take them to develop a lithium powered one that weighs ounces?:D

I'm really happy that you mentioned that because I forgot that I have about five of them somewhere in my garage :-?
