can anyone tell me how close the trail is to, how hard it is to get to white sulpher springs where the greenbrier is? i saw a show about it last night and thought it would be neat to visit. i would shower first.

The south end terminus of the Greenbrier River Trail is about 8-10 miles west of White Sulpher Springs. Use the link below and you can see a detailed map of the trail and area.

S'pose one could diverge on the GET to get closer, then return to the A.T. at either end of the Tuscarora.

The closest place from the AT to the Greenbrier would be Pearisburg, Va. Actually though it would be the blueblaze trail at Sugar Camp north of Pearisburg. You are approx. 1 hour from here to the hotel.

And about an 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours from Dragons Tooth depending on who you get behind climbing Potts and Peters Mtn on Rt 311. Hit I-64 and head west for about 5 or 10 miles and you're there.

One item to be voted on this year is if gambling would be allowed at the Greenbrier.....I don't know if that passed on not. You might want to bring a little more money.

Gambling will only be allowed if you are a guest of the hotel. The cost for the bunker tour is around $35.
