I am coming down to Marietta for my annual meeting. Monday, Jan 21 I am driving up to Springer.

Approx how long will it take to get from Marietta to Springer? Hopefully, it won't be too snowy, and I will have the chance to hike around for a couple hours. I have to drive back to Atlanta to catch a flight that same night.

thanks

Greatly depends on when your leaving. Traffic could be brutal.

You can get to the Springer parking lot in about 2 hrs from Marietta except on Friday afternoons and holidays.

Add 45 minutes to reach the trailhead on FS 42. So make that 2:30 - 2:45, give or take.

I knew I could count on you guys.....I am leaving on MLK Monday at around 12 noon, so hopefully the traffic won't be bad.

It's worth visiting Amicalola Falls SP if you have the time before or after your hike. There is a cool plaque about the AT, and a really nice exhibit inside the visitor's center with a lot of Gene Espy's gear from his hike in the 1950s. I was there for the dedication of the exhibit. The falls are nice too, although I suppose they are not as impressive as they usually are with normal rainfall.

Safe travels.
