I am heading out from springer early February and really all that's left for me to purchase between now and then are the trail maps covering all 14 states. Is anyone willing to part with the complete map set as seen on the ATC site?? Let me know. Thanks!

I've been wondering if I could just buy the appropriate maps along the trail.

It would probably be difficult to purchase the maps while hiking. You would likely only find them at an outfitter and then what would you do if they don't have the next section that you need? Suggest you purchase them ahead of time.
Sorry, Squarefoot, I still need mine...
See you on the trail,

Also, I haven't checked, but I would think that's more expensive than just buying the bundle from ATC, espcially if you become a member prior to purchase.

How good are the maps from the ATC? Are there better maps for hiking it out there?
Support the ATC, buy from them.
This public service message courtesy of somone who is not a member of the ATC.

They have the official maps, so I suppose that would make them the best for a trip.

They're pretty good, could use some improvements, but so does everything. I've used them and a compass numerous times for bushwacking and was always able to make it to the "point of interest" I was headed for.
You should have an outfitter near where you live, they should have some you can check out.

I can't think of better maps to take... for hiking the AT.

cheaper from ATC then individually, member or not. they are very detailed. buy 1 at local outfiter and check them out.
trails.com has some, but not as detailed. better site for day hiking (or kayaking or biking)
paid 200+ w/membership. i don't feel i was ripped off.
working on mail drops for them now.:)

... you probably think that TP isn't needed on the trail too. Just use that strange three leafed vine growing over there...

It's harder to wipe with a gun or a map than TP.

I don't think I would want a gun pointed down there anyway.
Eventually all threads lead to the topic of gunz. Nicely done, Wolfie.

ALWAYS carry a map when hiking on trails. You never know when an emergency will arise and you'll need to find the quickest way to a road/town. To hike without a map is irresponsible and foolish. Fac
