FYI, just received from the GATC:
Popular Stamp Road (FS 44) is closed from Jasus Creek to Augustine Gap for "felling operations" from 12/10/07 until 3/15/08. If you wish to get to FS 44C you may access it from the north end of FS 44 at Unicoi Gap. It is about seven miles from Unicoi Gap. FS 44C has had the first third recently graded and although somewhat muddy in places it is in much better condition now.
