If you had to choose a section to hike over a two week period in Virginia in May, what would it be? I am thinking about going North from Damascus, or south from Harpers Ferry, and ending where it ends, then shuttling/hitching back. I'm looking at doing average mileage.

Suggestions?

Since your from Maryland I will assume you've done SNP, therefore I recommend to head north from Damascus.

Tough Call.

Normally I'd say North from Damascus, for the best scenary. However this is traildays/NOBO crowds time, so if sharing a shelter area with 25 people each night isn't your thing, maybe do the northern section.

The northern section (Waynesboro to HF) doesn't have the most inspiring scenary, especially when it rains frequently, but it'll be much less crowded, and if you're section hiking the trail, you'll want/have to hike it eventually
