He is 6'4 and 220 lbs. I'm 5'8 and 140. We need to lose a little weight probably. Does anyone make anything for couples?

I keep hearing that hammocks don't work well for two, despite centuries of attempts to make them work.

Am I hearing wrong?

Did you look at the Eagles Nest Outfitters DoubleNest (http://www.eaglesnestoutfittersinc.com/double-nest-hammock.html)? I sleep in this solo and am very comfortable in it. :D

I'm toying with a double bridge hammock set up - see thread on hammockforums.com (http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=2788)

I have "tested" a double hammock like the ENO double with two people. We found that it is possible, and fairly comfortable as long as you are close to the same weight. If there is too big of a weight difference it might throw the balance of the hammock off and make it pretty cramped and uncomfortable. If you do try it, we found that laying opposite of each other worked the best. Meaning her feet were at my head. When you both get in a ridge will rise in between the two of you, kind of making it two hammocks. So their feet aren't in your face. The ridge is about 6-8 inches high. Another trick is to not have your hips in the same spot. That will put all the weight in one area and throw off the balance. Lay so that your hips are about mid thigh of eachother. Oh yeah, laying on your side is also a must. Well that's pretty detailed, but it should work.

the best approach for two people hammocking together I have heard of was to take two top loading hammocks like the Trek Light/ENO/... type, hang them from the same two trees with a spreader bar separating the head ends and optionally another spreader bar separating the foot end - use a larger than typical tarp to cover both hammocks

I agree with Hooch. I use a ENO double and I am very happy. I use the extra for wraping around myself. I believe that it holds 400 pounds. However, I never used it with another else.

Hope you find the one just right for you.
