Hi Everyone,

Just a quick question about the trail conditions on the AT. I was curious as to wether it would be enjoyable to thru-hike NOBO starting January. I realise that there would be a lot of snow which could make things difficult. Has anyone done this? Thanks a lot,

David

Too cold and too lonely for me.

Yep, Stumpknocker is out there now knocking around. He started out on Jan. 1 NOBO. Read his journal that LW was kind of enough to post above. It can be an exciting time.

Depends if you like more isolation and cold temps that can dip to the single digits (like this coming weekend). Some love it, some don't. Snow can hit anywhere from Dec to April, honestly. We had snow twice in April last year.
