This link (http://www.abettermap.com/SORUCKMap.jpg) may also help. I made a little map showing the local landmarks and distances to a couple of places nearby and on the way.

I began section hiking last summer and would love to get to know AT people from this area better (foothills of NC). Will most of the people coming already know each other.....or is it easy to fit in. Just curious.

I have made the change into a full fledged vampire! Working the graveyard shift is KILLING me! Now I can't sleep even on my nights off. So here I sit at 3am thinking about the 2004 season and wishing it was getting closer to spring rather than snowing and cold!

I am missing a lot of people too and I am really looking forward to the Rucks. Are any of you going to attend either of these hiker get togethers? They are a great way to get some ideas if you are planning a hike, any hiking at all, and a great way to stay in touch with old friends or make a few new friends. (Shadesofblue... we will make you feel right at home... hmmm, do you know how to peel potatos?... I am still looking for some help with Sunday breakfast at the Soruck..)

Check out the link to the SoRuck. http://www.hike-usa.com/soruck2004.htm

I may be looking for a hitch up to PA this year if anyone with extra room will be traveling up I81 on that Friday??

With this crowd it's pretty easy to just fit in. However, a lot of people *will* either know a good deal of the folks, or know of them from the 'net.

Hi Miss Janet! I'm only 25-30 miles from Camp Thornwell (SORUCK), and would love to help with anything you want. Last-minutr supplies, utensils, cooking, whatever. I'm looking forward to meeting you *before* I get to Erwin. :)
