The Women's Hiker List over on Yahoo adopted wear ribbons on our packs and ball hats a few years back. This was mainly because being a cyber group we did not always know what each other looked like and these ribbons were a shout-out "Hey I'm on the WHL!!"

We choose Yellow-Blue-Green. Yellow for the sun, Blue for the sky and the water, Green for grass and the trail beneath our feet.

One night while I was pondering the Meredith issue I decided that I would place a BLACK ribbon on my cluster in remembrance of her and to remind me to be alert at all times. I will wear this ribbon for one year, on New Year's of 2009 I will remove it.

I mentioned my idea on the WHL forum and a few of the ladies liked the idea and were adopting it as well. Rosie Suit was nice enough to make up a bunch to bring to the So Ruck.

Do to an upcoming hike early Monday morning I was unable to make the RUCK or the memorial walk for Meredith. This kind of bummed me out... while sitting at the house I got a little bored and decided to embellish the ribbons a bit more. I embroidered M.E. on the black ribbon.

Here are a couple of pictures as it is on my pack: http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/vbg/showimage.php?i=21449&c=553 (http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/vbg/showimage.php?i=21449&c=553)

Nice. I liked the idea of the green ribbon several members proposed wearing for remembrance of Meredith. This is a cool idea too.

How does one get involved with the Yahoo group. I hear you have to be nominated or voted in to prove you are a women? I would love to get involved with more women's groups, but do I have to know someone in the group?
