I know this is sad and hard to bring to the forum but some here do venture into the ravines on MT Washington in the winter months. Some good info in the report on how the avalanche warnings work and how to make good decisions on whether to go or pass. RIP fellow climber.:(

Thanks Woodsy. I saw that news earlier today too. Reminds me of the book I read at Madison Hut two summers ago when stuck there for a day.
'Not Without Peril' chronicles the more tragic history surrounding the Prezzies and the ravines (Tuckerman and Huntington) seem to have a stronghold on these stories.
Peace hiker friends.

Thru-hikers should always try to stop in the Mt. Washington tourist place on the summit, if for no other reason than to look at the list of deaths recorded on the mountain. Nearly all are in the winter on Huntington or Tuckerman. It's a sobering list.
