Interesting guy, does he post on WB?

I just spent an hour or two browsing through all his AT videos. He did an extremely good job of documenting his AT thru hike and has shared them all on youtube. Really enjoyed it and he seems be pretty honest about the ups and downs of a thru hike.

His website has some real nice AT photos. Looks like a real light packer / fast walker but good to see he was still willing to carry camera(s)? and stop and smell the roses once in a while.

John, if you post here on WB, thanks for taking the time to share all that on YouTube, having posted some videos myself, I know what you did was pretty time intensive.

I really enjoyed his story in from the DWG. He had stopped their pre-hike just to see and touch the trail. I did the same thing several times. He took a photo of an AT sign he saw there. And he carried that photo all the way from Springer, just a cool moment from his Vids.

:welcome Welcome back to WB. Don't stay away forever. We like your stuff! I personally enjoyed your YouTube vids. They made me decide to bring a Flip (mini video cam) next time I hit the AT. Take care.

P.S. Just curious if your surname is Hungarian?

Hey guys,

Haven't had a whole bunch of time to go hiking lately. I've been knee deep in grad school stuff. I did get out to colorado this past june and was able to thru-hike the CT. It was such a different type of trail than the A.T. Truly breathtaking. Since then I've been pretty much sticking to running (both road and trail runs). I am really missing the trail...and am also starting to think seriously about a PCT bid in '10...between masters and PhD programs. (If I stay for a PhD).

Fancyfeet, yeppers....my full name Fegyveresi is Hungarian

Nick...doggiebag was a cool guy. I met him while at Uncle Johnny's. He's got some crazy stories from his hike (ie snow storms, snake bites, etc). His vids are pretty darn entertaining...lol

Aha. I thought so...My father was born in Budapest. I never learned to speak Hungarian, but I can sure spot it.

Colorado Trail...I'm jealous! Everything's so OPEN out west.

Good luck in school!

Who is that guy at 54 seconds on his main video? I met him in Waynesboro?

buff,

The guy at 54 seconds is Rusty from "Rusty's Hard Time Hollow". He runs quite an interesting hostel along the blue ridge parkway. Probably one of the most unique along the whole trail.

Thanks, man, and good luck with that prospective PCT hike!

Hey everyone. I just thought I'd add an update to this thread from way back. I am in fact hiking the PCT this year before starting my full PhD studies. I finished my Masters degree and was able to spend two field seasons down in Antarctica! See...science can be fun.

Anyhoo, I leave in 9 days for Rochester NY where I will spend 2 final days packing and preparing. Then on the 22nd I fly to San Diego and head to Campo! I hope to document the trip with lots of videos and photos like I did with the AT. I will also be using my phone's built in GPS to allow friends and family to track my location. Technology is cool!

I have a journal started on trailjournals: http://www.trailjournals.com/lakewoodpct
and a blog over at: http://lakewoodhiker.blogspot.com

Wish me luck, as I will also be hiking with a side goal of trying to raise money for heart disease awareness:
