unplug it and wash it with warm water. set it up on end to dry out for about 24 hours. Milk is not that bad. orange juice or coffee with cream and suger are bad things.

Find the nearest hiker to suck it out!

Free food for him and you can count it as a work-for-stay project:)

Laptop or separate keyboard?

Laptop, I don't know. But if the keyboard is separate, uplug it (...I'll bet you figured that part out...) flip it over and undo the small screws on the bottom. You can now separate it into plastic molded parts that you can clean in the sink and the electronicy part that you obviously can't. The sticky keys can be pried off and cleaned. If the electronic part underneath the sticky keys has gunk on it, wipe it off with a moist cloth. Let it all dry before reassembling. Most of the gunk is going to be in the molded parts.

This has worked for soda, milk, soda, juice and soda. Geez, it sounds like nobody else here ever raised teenagers.

OK, ok, I admit it - this has also worked for coffee spills.

If your keyboard has enough room. Get a butter knife or the thinest blade, and pop out from under the affected letters. Use qtips and rubbing alcohol to clean under the letters. Be careful and not apply to much pressure or you could strip the letters.

Sometimes just letting it dry out overnight helps.

I knew a laptop that got ruined by an orange soda spill. The liquid got down past the keyboard area into the motherboard or whatever. Something to be said for a separate keyboard. :) Even if it gets ruined, you can get a new one for $10.

I've always had good luck with running them through the dishwasher, just gotta set it in the sun for a day or two to dry it out afterward.

I've probably done this with 10 or 15 keyboards with no problems.

I too have run mine through the dishwasher. MY lovely little child (a ferret) was so kind as to spill half a can of soda in mine. Came home and found the can lying sideways above the keyboard. Tilted the keyboard and soda poured out. Unplugged the keyboard. Put a baggie over the USB plug and rubberbanded it on there good and tight. Took it and stuck it in the dishwasher and ran a normal cycle with no high heat setting of any kind. When it was done i let it sit for 24 hours on end and then went back to using it. It has been fine for over a year now.

Several years ago I spilled a Coke on my keyboard. Figuring it was ruined anyway I put it in the dishwasher. Next day I tried it out, worked as good as new and clean too.

I've read in a computer magazine that you can take a sticky keyboard in the shower with you, and as you shower, just let the water run naturally over the keyboard. Hang it or tilt it against the wall.

Let it dry next to your floor duct vent overnight, and try it. If it doesn't work, nothing lost anyway.

I'd worry about the heater in a normal dishwasher, though my Bosch doesn't have a heater element, so I'd risk it in there if I had to.

Doesn't sound like it works too well if you're only 24 and have already gone through 15 keyboards!
