Ron I will be calling there today to book my room. I did not get to make it to SoRuck so I feel cheated this year after reading all the great posts.

That's right at the end of my spring break. Hoping to do some hiking from Springer to Neels after Easter, may just have to hit up that bash after I'm done.

Hi Ron:

I'll be heading north from the Len Foote HIKE INN on March 11th. Would it be reasonable to hit Franklin around the 28th?

if you hike 6 miles a day or so you'll be right on time. you'll most likely be past franklin by the 28th. more like fontana dam area

Thanks LW. My initial planning put me up by Fontana on the 28th. I'm not in a big rush so 6-8 miles a day is OK for me, especially for the first few weeks.

For anyone driving there, watch out for that last down hill going into franklin, the cops like to hand out tickets there....just a warning from last year

Sorry looks like I won't make it this year

You'll be missed Gaitor. I'm not sure if I'll be going this year or not. I'm on spring break and hiking a section, ending on Friday. I may drive over on Saturday, depends on how my hiking partner feels.

Friends,I just spoke with Starlyte Limousine Service today at 828-586-5466.The owner is a friend Cathy Gibson which is also the owner of The Starlyte Inn of Cherokee,NC

She said if hikers would like to come to the April Hiker Fool Bash from Fontana or the NOC first class in a limo for a fee.Call her and discuss it with her. They have white or black limos which ever color you choose. If several want to come it would be a reasonable price if everyone chipped in.

Since it is 15 miles from Newfound Gap to Gatlinburg and 15 miles to Cherokee. Some of you may want to consider her motel services price wise also in the future.
