Does anyone know anything about the North Face Tadpole 23 tent? It is 4 lb 3 oz standard, 4 lb 15 oz total (what does that mean?), 2 person, double-walled, freestanding. Galyans has it on sale right now for $112 (regular $200). Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

just be aware the tadpole is only 87 inches long. it may seem like alot of room, but get in there and lay down and it doesn't seem so big. if your doing serious hiking and you want to be ready for the elements, a major concern is getting your sleeping equipment wet. you cannot prevent moisture from building on the insides of your tent, your breathing alone will soak the inside. therefore you need a tent that is big enough for you to sleep in without touching the sides or ends.

base weight = tent, poles, fly
total weight = (base weight) + stakes, chord, packsack, ect.
