catch the quote about Jerimiah Johnson? "Redford has done the mountain man thing before..." uh....right....I think this is 2008 now? Not 1866 (approximate time of JJ....and I'm pretty sure the AT is on those eastern mountains and not those in the west.....

i hope redford decides to get this done before the other project.
i still hold out hope that they will film some of it on the actual AT itself, this way we can have on the spot reporting and info for whiteblaze.
filming some of trail days would be kinda cool this year...

Paul Giamatti should play Katz. If John Candy were alive, he would make a great Katz

Steve Schirripa as Katz

does anyone else think that Steve Martin would do a good job as Brysons character?

I dunno how Redford is gonna pull this off because about two-thirds of the book won't translate to film - unless we're talking documentary.

I suspect he'll try to make something along the lines of "City Slickers." Kinda unfortunate because - aside from the humorous episodes - the thing that made that book such an enjoyable read was that Bryson spent a fair part of his writing talking about trail history, local town history, historical explorers, botanists and the like.

I wouldn't do documentary more so than comedy. it could be dome to incorporate both.

OMG... i can't decide if i really want to see this (if it's made), or that i absolutely DO NOT want to see it. I'm big fan of the book, and I don't see how a movie can be as good.

(i learned my lesson with the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy movie - big let down)

*fingers crossed

Off topic b

But I thought hiker guide is one of the best movies ever, But i understand that you didnt like it. witch is the case lot with book adaptations or really hyped movies. I relly thought "i am legend" was going to be good. If we would of just drop all our preconsceptions.
