I like the poles :) I wonder how much fluid they hold. I couldnt imagine lugging around a 10lb set of hiking poles lol.

Wow, those innovations counteract the cheeseburger in a can. Our descent into darkness is slowed.

Some dude wandered up to Calf Mtn. Shelter last summer the night I was there... he'd attached water-bottle clamps, up near the handle on each of his hiking poles. The clamps were the kind used on bicycles for the same purpose. The rig looked ridiculous to me (and the hiker was dressed ridicuously in other ways as well.) Anyway, adding 16+ oz. of weight to each hiking pole struck me as supremely dumb... but I bit my tongue and said nothing.

Probably a good workout tho...

And redistributes the weight somewhat, but I could not see going all day like that. Of course, as the water bottle as dumbbells workout gets tiring, you could always drink up and wait awhile before refilling.

I followed Hi-Tech's still online blog in 2006. Toward the end of his thru (through ), I recall seeing a picture in which he had mounted the same thing to one of his hiking poles. To each their own and HYOH and all, but it did seel a little odd to me at the time.
