How many companies can you name that still make all their products in the USA, such as backpacks, clothes, tents, stoves etc..:-?

It is doubtful that, even if the products are made in the U.S., the materials and components are.

Mc hale packs are made in USA and so are most of the hammock manufacturers except hennesy

Look at the cottage gear manufactorers. I try to order from them whenever I can. They seem to do the best they can to either make them here and a lot of time do some or all the work themselves.
Western Mountaineering and ULA do, for sure.

I know Jet Boil is assembled in the US with imported parts, Western Mountaineering, ULA, Equinox,all made in the US.
Darn Tough Socks, Fox River, Traildog Clothing, McNett they make Aqua Mira, Revivex all made in the US.... anymore?

My Marmot bag was manufactured in the US with certified European goose down, but the shell material was manufactured in Bangladesh.

My Zippo was crafted entirely in Bradford, PA! :D
Zippos are well made, and I would love to take a Zippo camping with me as apposed to an inexpensive Bic lighter. But a Zippo is not reliable, you drop it in water and it’s done for. Do the same to the Bic and blow on it a min and its back running like new.
Tarptent, Western Mountaineering, Mystery Ranch come to mind...

As of this year, Western Mountaineering's jackets and vests are being made in Canadia. Chaco's ZX sandals are now made in Asia, all of their stuff over there probably within 2 years.

Mchale packs, Kifaru, Feathered Friends, I believe ULA packs are US made. Oware, AGG, Six Moon Designs. You could outfit your entire kit from that list almost.

All of our stuff sacks and most of our pack covers and many of our fleece products are made in Reading, PA http://longunderwearsales.com/index.php?cPath=64
It's tough anymore. we would love to have all of our products come from the USA BUT,
5 of the 7 factories we used to use are now closed down.
Silk farms are only in Thailand and China (although i hear that Bangladesh is starting one) and it is very difficult to get these places to export only fabric. They would much rather sew it for you also.
Malden Mills (Polartec) has now even gone bankrupt. They couldn't compete and they had the best name in the business. But when you are selling something for $12 a yard and the Chinese come in at $2.80 a yard, and it's hard to tell the difference anymore, who you gonna call?
Of course, with the dollar dropping as hard and as fast as it is, things could change but you might not be happy working for $5 an hour again.
My price on silk from China has doubled in the past 4 years. Mostly all because of the devalued dollar. I have no choice but to raise my prices soon.
Stephenson Warmlite products are still made in or around Guilford, N.H.
I believe their goose down comes from northern Europe and their fabrics are made here, or used to be, at least.

I believe Benchmade knives are made in the USA.
I thought that Red Wing boots and shoes still were, but learned even these are partially built in China, and then only finished here. Believe all their other brands are built overseas.

I have no first-hand experience, but found these reviews (http://www.amazon.com/review/product/B000EA8U1M?showViewpoints=1) for you.
My opinion is that this lighter might be handy around the charcoal grill, but at 8" long, it's not the best choice for backpacking.

Eno Hammocks are made in North Carolina. The double nest is very comfortable. The also now make a light weight one for backpacking.
Etowah stoves and accessories as well are made in US.
Some New Balance shoes. I remember reading somewhere that a mfgr needs to have only 70% of his product made in the USA in order to label his product as such. Does anyone "Look fo the Union Label" before they buy?
Speer Hammocks are made in NC, too.

Bags are still sewn in San Jose but the fabric, hardware and feathers are imports I;d bet.

It seems pretty difficult to tell really where the raw materials might be from. It might take a bit of tracking down to get a decent idea. Start with questions to the end-product manufacturer I'd guess.

I know this is an old thread but I thought I should add that Kifaru and Mystery Ranch are made in the US with US made parts.

My opinion is that this lighter might be handy around the charcoal grill, but at 8" long, it's not the best choice for backpacking.
Now that thread necropsy has set in I can say that I bought one of these and have used in on a couple of backpacking trips.
But when it came in the mail from Bradford it had a small sticker on it that said CHINA. Grrrr. Consequently the Zippo web page listing when I bought it was misleading at best.

You can still visit the Zippo/Case knife museum in Bradford Pa.
And yes, Nalgene is still headquartered in my hometown, although they are manufactured elsewhere in the USA.

Some of the KA-BAR Knives are still made in the U.S. while others and the sheaths are made in Taiwan or Mexico.
Thorlos Socks are made in Statesville, North Carolina. They come in multiple varieties with designs suitable for all outdoor sports and activities. Most certainly backpacking.
When I was walking north with blistered feet, a trail angel suggested I switch to Thorlo socks and drove me to a store. I bought two pairs and ended my blister problem almost overnight.
I've been wearing mostly Thorlo socks ever since -- usually seconds purchased at the factory store in Statesville. No better trail sock is made than the Thorlo backpacking sock.
