I had a Gregory Forester until this last year-- had a couple hundred hikes and a couple thousand miles on it-- but it finally died when it fell of the top of my Jeep in Utah last March-- now I have been through the run of several packs at REI and can't find one I am happy with. I tried the REI UL 60 and a Gregory z 55-- I should also mention that I winter pack solo and three season with my six year-old. Any suggestions?

Try the Gregory G-pack if you can find one...

Check out the Triconi. It basically replaced the Forester.

Didn't the Baltoro kinda replace it?

I just got a "Baltoro" and I am very happy with it. I plan on carrying alot more food this year so I wanted a pack that could take the load.

You might check out a comparable sized Osprey pack.

The Gregory Makalu series are the best packs that company makes, they'll carry an obscene load, and the new ones are pretty light.
