I'm looking for a safe place to park a car for a week near Bear Mt., NY. Can anyone make a recommendation?

There is a big lot at the Inn. They charge a couple bucks a day, but I believe it is secure/monitored. May want to call the Bear Mtn Inn to find out.

Another idea would be at Graymoor Friary. They are pretty hiker friendly and MAY let you stash a car there, especially if you make a donation, but this is just speculation, I have no idea if they actually allow this. Close to the AT and Bear Mtn though.

Here are Bear Mountain parking areas but I can't tell you about safety: http://rohland.homedns.org/at/state/state_menu/state_searchresults.aspx?stateID=9%20&phrase=bear%20mountain

First off, the Bear Mnt. Inn is closed for renovation, so don't try to call them.
But, you can park in that large lot, down at the other end, near the park administration office. I'm not sure, but I believe the park police have an office in that building so it should be pretty safe.
