You should be good to go, I live nearby and it only got cold today, we haven't had snow or ice for weeks to amount to anything.

All clear from 60 up to Afton Mtn. today. That might change over night with a possibility of a light snow, sleet or a little freezing rain on Tuesday morning, but probably won't amount to much. Thurday and Friday supposed to warm back up again into the lower 50's.

There is rain supposed to move in overnight. Also they are talking about major rain on the weekend - maybe Sunday.
That is a nice stretch of trail, but a hefty climb from Rt 60 north on the AT.

Blissful is correct about it being a "hefty climb" from the Rt. 60 wayside North bound on the AT. It is about a 6 mile hike to Cow Camp Gap, but it is a real pull. Most day hikers will hike South on this section just to avoid the hard pull.

I stroked up the priest in 2.5 hours about 4-5 weeks ago - I fear no hill.

Sounds like you are in pretty good shap. If you did the Priest you will have no trouble on Long Mountain.

well, sure hope so. I'm a section hiker but I do it every weekend somewhere. thanks to all for the weather and trail info! It just came a big ice storm here in fairfax so who knows what the weekend will bring. I hope it clears by friday though and I plan to drive down hike!

We have some icing now, but the temperature is supposed to rise around midnight. Unless you are hiking right now ;) , you should have smooth sailing, so to speak.

Yeah, Friday and Saturday fairly nice, some sunshine, possibility of rain or freezing rain Sunday morning then rain Sunday night.
