The closest thing I have to an outfitter nearby is an EMS store. I was in there today browsing around to kill time and found myself a pretty good deal. The store is having an end of winter clearance sale and was able to pick up one of EMS's Heater Jacket for $35 dollars. It's got a Pertex Quantum shell and Primaloft One insulation, plus two good sized pit zips. The regular retail tag on it says $129 dollars. It stuffs into a 4 liter Sea To Summit Silnylon dry bag and weighs in at 1 pound 6 ounces. I wore it out and about tonight in temperatures that are just below 20 degrees and it was nice and warm. So I guess the moral of the story is check your local EMS store for a clearance sale.

We have REI exclusively around here, and they're doing their Winter Clearance also. Some really great deals. I returned by Christmas BA Air Core mattress and upgraded to the Dual Core and they refunded me $32. Air Core cost me $65, so I got the $99 Dual Core for $33. :) Also got my wife a $280 Northface (deluxe two-in-one) for $160, a Valentine's present! :)

While snooping around REI I fell in love with the Marmot Precip storm jacket, but it wasn't on sale - $99. Tried it on to make sure of the size and I ordered it Saturday night from Basegear.com for $65 and it arrived today - no shipping charge and no tax! :) Just came back from a 3-mile walk at 36 degrees and with only a light fleece under it, I was sweating a little. The Marmot Precip weighs 15 ounces.

The EMS store near my house just went out of business. But FWIW, campsaver.com is giving a 20% discount on all orders over $200. Hot deals at REI last weekend -- their "83 cent" sale.

sign up for a EMS credit card and get 15% off your first purchase. Make sure it a big one :) I think I saved myself like 150 bucks.... but also put myself like 650 in debt lol.

Looks like the stores have some deals that aren't on-line - for those lucky enough to live near one! However, some of th deals listed in this thread are there.

Apparently all the stuff these folks are finding is not online!!Yes and no, regarding REI. Some of their "$x.83" items are listed online, but I think local stores have some levity to move their personal overstock at 1/2 price in addition to what is advertised online. ;)

I got a pair of Sierra Designs Down Booties from REI for $2.83 two weeks ago. Don't even wear them on the trail, but for that price, I just might make them my luxury item.

Still can't believe the deal on those. Something to do with the winter sale and a bad SKU, in my favor.
