Well, I don't see how you can call "Secular/Nonreligious/Agnostic/Atheist" a religion, and "Juche" doesn't count as a religion in my book, so Judaism would be #10.

But some of the others look like groups of religions (#7, #8), and sometimes I wonder how all of the extremes of the Christian religions can be lumped together, and I have known several people from South America who did not understand that Protestants (non-Catholics) are Christian.

It certainly is complicated.

Just got back (and cleaned up) from a nice little hike--my usual double loop at Crowders Mtn. State Park. Rain was threatening, but didn't happen, unfortunately.

The weekend after next I'll be helping out at a Beginner's Backpacking weekend. The organizer is putting a lot of time and thought into this. People are really excited about it. We're doing a very moderate 5-mile hike to a group campsite (with water and privy), spend the night, then hike back to the cars. A bunch of people who've been wanting to do this for ages, but have never pulled it together to buy gear and plan a trip, have signed up.

Should be interesting.

The source of the symbol comes from ancient Babylon (near what is Baghdad, today).
It's been around longer than Islam. I'm sure it doesn't mean to the modern Muslim people what it meant to the ancient Babylonians.

Muslims worship one God.
Jews worship one God.
Most Christians worship a Three-in-one God.
I'm still doing research on that one.

There were all different kinds of tribes during the days of Mohammand. He was the leader of a trading caravan and got around alot. They were jelish [sorry about the spelling] of the people of the book, that being the Jews. So when Mohammed heard the voice he started a new faith.

Hmmm... Terry7, please go read the portion of the Koran entitled "The Children of Israel (http://quod.lib.umich.edu/cgi/k/koran/koran-idx?type=DIV0&byte=429259)" (like a book in the Bible). It is pretty clear that Allah is the God of Abraham from the text.
I do not want to start any trouble but I am a student of the Bible. In every Bible believing Church I have been to this has been tought. I known the Politions have to say that we all worship the same god for the sake of peace. But ask any Muslum that follows the Koran if he worships the same god that Christians and jews do.

This is basic Bible study, Maybe I have not made myself clear. I speak better than I write. They will say the god of Abraham, of course. But they say the Jews have lied and changed the bible. So in there eyes how can we be worshiping the same god. Where did the crescent moon symble come from? The Musslums before Mohomed were all scattered and many differant tribes. Jack Chick and many fundamentalist religious teachers are less concerned with telling the truth than with putting down certain groups in any way they can.

The crescent moon was a secular symbol denoting power in that part of the world - similar to the eagle in this part of the world - for many centuries before Islam was a religion. If it is an Islamic symbol, why is it also found on many Russian artifacts and on the crest of Poland?

The most telling evidence against such nonsense is that early Islamic artifacts never contain the crescent nor the star. The use of these symbols has come later and is symbolic of power and holiness. The lack of these symbol on early artifacts pretty much dispels the notion that worship of the moon god was involved in the beginning of Islam.

Correction. Muslims don't have a "moon god". Theirs is the God of Abraham, same as the Jews and Christians.

Mohammed actually did not use or encourage the use of symobls of any sort. The moon symbol was used by secular governments in the middle east for some time, and there is speculation that it was used as a reference to the pre-Muslim moon god, but nobody should say that Allah as worshipped by Muslims is a "moon god" rather than the same God worshipped by Jews and Christians.

That Wgy guy must have gotten too much experience trying to get folks to spell/say place names like "Canandaigua" in a former life. :D

Occasionally folks do try to pronounce my screen name, I don't have a trail name so that's what a government office in Gettysburg stuck me with.

Hey there Stranger,

Have you thought about supporting Whiteblaze with a donation?
and simply stay away from the other aberrations,
or have a libation,
before you join the conflagration.

There are many nifty things about our great nation,
one of them is freedom of conversation,
not to mention constipation,
leading to meditation,
sometimes medication,
and if you are not careful, hallucination.

Of course, you are under no obligation,
to read or share political information,
if that's not your relaxation,
or ventilation.

There is no need for trepidation,
politics is not a presentation,
some call it an irritation,
but to many it is a titillation,
after all, where else can you come out of hibernation,
make a proclamation,
gather your friends for an orchestration,
or machination,
for a validation,
pro or con reformation?

At the end of the obfuscation,
there is some mitigation,
that leads to modulation,
and moderation,
and a visitation,
for preservation,
of those not in violation.

If you have an inclination,
to join the exploration,
of political destination,
do not fear an instigation,
or suffocation,
these are merely malformations,
with some perturbation,
and yes, profanation,
even perspiration,
but mostly masturbation.

While there may be agitation,
fabrication,
accusation,
altercation,
and yes, defamation,
over some confrontation;
there is also adulation,
vindication,
adoration,
jubilation,
and celebration.

With some limitation,
you can learn toleration,
refutation,
and accommodation.

So join, or not, the political reservation,
where you can learn about proliferation,
or regulation,
legislation,
taxation with representation,
and many more consternation's,
that are not Appalachian.

Not really.

Very impressive. I could not find that many words to rhyme. Guess that's why I play the drums.
