How dirty do your ears get from thru-hiking?
I'm trying to determine if it is worth it to include some q-tips in my mail drops for my upcoming thru-hike.
I swear this is a serious question :)
Dirty enough to grow potatoes.
Use some T.P. and your pinky finger. Or bandana.

I always carried some in a ziplock for use during that weekly shower.

Unless you normally clean wax from your ears with a k-bar knife pack a few.

Q-tips for sure. I definitely use them for the fraction of an ounce that they are.
Okay, well I know most of us like to have dual purpose items in our pack. I haven't reallly thought about Q-tiips, but maybe that should be a completely different thread?? Any takers??

Q-tips can, of course, be dual purpose. Just put a little "Purell" on the end of the used Q-tip, light it, and then use it as a long match for starting your camp fire (providing that camp fires are allowed).
They can also be used (with a little oil added) to oil up your knife, spread "Shoe Goop" more evenly on that de-laminated shoe, same with Super_Glue for that patch/repair job. :)
tp can serve double duty for qt's. wow thats a lot of t's
