Keep hiking straight ahead, you have to pass Long Creek Falls and there will be a sign for hte BMT and Duncan Ridge Trail, going NOBO you will turn left down the BMT off of the AT.

It's at the falls. Or, more precisely, a few yards north from the blue blazed trail that leads to the falls.Oops, I need to back up. Did you want to find the DRT going north from 3 Forks or South towards Springer? If going south, the BMT / AT split is also signed. From 3 Forks to Long Creek Falls the AT & DRT share the same footpath.

About .1 mile before reaching 3 Forks, the AT and BMT share the same path. About .8 north of 3F, they split again. (thats in the area of the falls)

I read something recently that there was problems with the BMT south of 3 Forks... any one else see that (I cant relocate it) and does this affect the AT?

I haven't heard that, Cuffs. I recently talked with someone in the BMTA and he didn't mention it either, when we were discussing my plans for some section hiking. he did mention some rerouting being done a little father north. The following is listed on their site, but apparently isn't a problem to prevent hiking it.

150 yards of side-hill refreshing needed about 2/3 of the way south from Three Forks toward 2nd CrossTrails.

Just saw where section 1a from Springer to Big Stamp Gap was rated as poor on 2/19/08, so you may be on to something there.

That may have been it, GH, thanks!

BTW, what area you sectioning? I'll be doing Deals Gap to Reliance/Hiwassee in either April or May...

I'm not sure, yet. I have a week off in late April, so I am still deciding. part of it is working out logistics in shuttles.
