This is the gift I got for X-Mas, just now getting around to goofing off with it.

This is the HP iPAQ, Travel Companion, 5915 model.

http://www.officeworld.com/Worlds-Biggest-Selection/HEWFA811AA/08Q1/

I keep getting a memory to full, move memory to card notice on the screen, so I went out and bought a 4GB SD card for it. Now its like the HP doesnt know the memory card is there. I tried the card right outta the box and then formated it using my camera, but nothing is allowing me to move the folders from the HP memory to the SD card.

Any one have this thing and know what what to do? PLEASE dont say "call the 800 number" - I cant understand the people talking, who knows where they are out of .

Thanks!

Okay, the US has allowed so much outsourcing to other countries that we sometimes can't get competent technical support. I simply tell the person on the other side of the phone that I cannot understand them and would they please transfer me to someone who speaks English. MOST of the time that works, but in several cases I have had to hang up in frustration. That's when I take the device back to the store and adamantly ask for a refund. If I am refused the refund, I head back home and write a letter to the president of the company telling him/her about the problem and how I am advising everyone I know about the matter and to never purchase the products of that company again for any reason. I keep a form letter on my computer so it's relatively easy to pop them out and get them into the mail. It usually earns a phone call or at least a letter requesting me to contact someone by name directly to try to work out the problem.

It doesnt even acknowledge it has the card in there. I dont think it matters the size, thats memory it can hold, shouldnt effect the HP. I cant find any info on this. I would return the damn thing but its been since X-mas and it was bought over the net.

I was thinking of bringing it to update the trail journals along the way, I have the pack weight below 16 pounds so a extra 4 or 5 ounces wont kill me. But this is just a paion in the butt!

A quick check says it can only handle 2 GB of flash (SD) memory

Edit Check that. says 4GB. Take it to a geek.

Might have better luck trying the HP support forums. Try here maybe:

mayhaps the memory card is in backwards. So that the contacts cannot contact anything.

Good point Sly. I tried a HIGH DEFINITION 4 in my camera and it wouldn't work.

Wrongway, have you tried a smaller card? Is the one you have High def?

I had a HP unit, and as I recall, if you go to the HP website, and get into the tech support area, they have an "on line chat" function that is VERY helpful in solving problems without the "accent" problem.

Thanks, found the answer..... the 4GB is fine, it cant take a SDHD card. Nice of them to state that anywhere on the site or in the book or listed in the help area on the 5915.

I tried that but it asked for all the info on the unit and mine was not listed (5915) so i chose the 5910 - but that one didnt have the right internal listings....... just said to heck with it. After spending all that time on the phone, then on the web and still getting no where.......just a bummer.

At least I got you all, everythings good now :banana
