The Connecticut and Berkshire AMC chapters hire AT ridgerunners for the summer. The GMC hires some too for Vermont.

I found the above-cited ATC website to be very informative. All applications for ridge runner positions go to the ATC regional office in Boiling Springs, PA. The ATC then works with the various trail clubs, and other agencies such as state and national park and forest services, in filling the positions up and down the trail. The arrangements with the various clubs and agencies are not all the same. This is another example of the cooperation that exists all along the trail between ATC and local/regional organizations. The two ridge runners in Maryland last year were highly motivated, personable and effective individuals.
