Okay, I'm might be avoiding the "crowd" by beginning my thru on April 19, BUT I would still like to meet at lot of you folks (members of WB) while I'm hiking this year.

Is that possible?

You will certainly meet plenty of WBers. The longer you stay on the trail the more SOBOs obviously. But I've spoken about WB to hikers a number of times the last 2 years - the memorable ones being Dawn Treader and Woodsy - just hike through Maine, he'll be there.

We are section hikers, but will be out there in several areas this year - The last 25 miles or so of GA, some of the SNP and in Maryland. We may also try to do NC if we have the time and energy.

We also have been known to do some trail magic.

Best place to meet WBers also is Trail Days in Damascus.

Goin SOBO Slog??

=================================

all depends on when I pull the plug. If I go out the door by April it's NOBO but if I decide to hang out until May/June I would be headed south.

Funny you should mention that A-Train ...cuz if the budget doesn't allow for the flight back east I might just drop onto the CDT for a lengthy section.

I hope to be leaving sometime mid april.33 it ain't far from Ft Huacucha to Boot Hill,Tombstone,Benson,Seirra Vista or Bisbee from side to side.As hot as it is I don't think it's over 15 or 20 feet straight down to Pergatory.:eek:

Bach on topic"If you attend all the southern functions from Amicalola to Damascus you will probably meet 80% or more.:banana

Ron, I look forward to meeting you again.

An April start for a thru-hike is a perfect time for the 6 month spring to fall weather window. Earlier and you will experience more winter conditions at the start and any later will make summiting Katahdin a winter event.

You will probably not be fast enough to meet me between Harper's Ferry and the southern end of SNP in late May or early June, but you may see me between Monson and Katahdin in August or September. Those are my two planned AT trips for this year. I would love to do more, but I have a job. . .
