depends on which tarp it is, and if it's wet or dry.

stock fly-if it's wet, it gets wadded up and stuck under the elastic webbing running across my pack. if it's dry, it goes in the snakeskins.

8 x 10 fly-if it's dry, it gets folded up and placed inside my pack. if it's wet, it gets folded up and strapped under the elastic webbing.

Wet or dry, it usually ends up stuffed into one of my pack's mesh pockets in no particular way. Sometimes it gets folded, sometimes I just kinda ball it up. Depends on how much of a hurry I'm in.

I want to get an HH Ultralight Backpacker A-Sym. I'm new to hammocks, so I have a few questions. Is the fly attached to the hammock, or can it be stored seperately? Will the stock fly be enough coverage? Is there any good reason to go the Ultralight Explorer? Thanks!

What they said about the tarp. I used to use a UL Backpacker and if I could do it again, I would have gotten the UL Explorer do to it's longer length. In general, a longer hammock is a more comfortable hammock. Small weight penalty. The stock fly can be compared to hammock floss.:D Little room for error in bad weather. A bigger tarp is a big advantage. Ask Hennessy to send the hex tarp instead or in addition to the stock tarp. Check out this site for some good hammock 101 info. www.tothewoods.net/HammockCamping.html
Be sure to look closely at the staying dry section as it explains why you don't want to attach the tarp to the hammock. Better attached to the trees instead. Also check us out at white blazes sister site www.hammockforums.net

I sewed up half an onion bag to make a breathable tarp sack. Cheap as all hell and works like a charm.
