Any likelyhood it will still be there next weekend? It's supposed to get up to 60 in gatinburg for a few days next week.

I'd like to be in it, but I'd also like to get up newfound gap road.:-?

Good luck heading over there. We talked about it but may just stick to the gorge for this next trip.

Thanks. I hope there is some left up there. I'm doing newfound gap to davenport gap march 7-10

There may still be some snow at the highets elevations (6000+). I dayhiked in the Smokies today, up to the Russell Field shelter for lunch. Newfound Gap road was closed this morning due to snow and ice, I don't know if it opened later in the day. Russell field at about 4500 feet above sea level had 4-8 inches of snow, but it was melting rapidly enough to make the trail like hiking through a creek. I ran into a ranger that said Leconte had 22 inches and Newfound Gap had 17.

Thanks DG. It doesn't look like it's going to stick around with the warm weather we're going to get this week. Oh well.
