I am trying to plan a trip in May or June, I would like to begin in GA and hike for 3-4 days. I need help with where to start and end. I have one friend who is now backing out, so I may be alone. I have never hiked the AT, but have a lot of survival training and hiking experience. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :-?

Start at Amicalola. Hike to Neels Gap. Might as well start at the beginning.

If you have hiking exp. you could probably do springer to neels gap in that time. It would be a good intro to the trail, and you'll start with alot of new folks.

Start at Amicalola Falls and hike to Woody Gap. Or start on Springer Mtn. and hike to Neels Gap. Either way the Hiker Hostel (http://www.hikerhostel.com/)can arrange your shuttle.

Have fun. Hopefully you won't need the survival training.

Amicalola Falls to Neels. 38 miles. Two easy to get to pts. Plus, once done, you will have started the trail and after that trip, well, you'll just have to finish it.:welcome

I agree with the Springer to Neels idea. You might as well start at the beginning and it's nice hiking as well.

You should be fine by yourself.

And welcome to Whiteblaze.net ! !
