Today is the 5th Anniversary of the start of Jan Liteshoe's (http://trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?id=27640) AT thru-hike.
She celebrated it by coming back to Amicalola to do a reading from her book. (http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/vbg/showimage.php?i=22524&catid=newimages&cutoffdate=1)

sounds like that would have been great. A great anniversary to celebrate.It was a beautiful day at Amicalola. There were many hikers that chose this day to start their thrus also. I went to the Visitor's Center twice and each time there were lines of hikers waiting to register. We also heard many great speakers today at the Friends of Amicalola event.
And I need to explain something about my picture of Jan.... there's a propane heater directly behind her. It was a safe distance away. No matter what the picture shows, her butt is not on fire.
