Does the A.T. have an offical theme song? I am not a song writer or a singer but it would be neat to listen to a song about the A.T. just to get the memory jucies going.

I'm all for music, but a theme song for a long distance hiking trail? That would make me not want to go near the appalachian trail, or at least not tell anyone about it...

Go on Itunes, search Johnsmith, one word, song Appalachian Rain. Was in Lion King's movie, it is literally about hiking the trail NOBO. Not a theme song but kinda cool.

Well it's not a "trail song" per se, but the day I finally have Katahdin in my sights I plan to listen to "Faith of the Heart" on my MP3. You might also know it as the theme from the old TV series "Enterprise." It starts out "It's been a long road/gettin' from there to here/it's been a long time/and my time is finally near/......" It's very uplifting. It was my son's chosen song at his high school graduation as well.

Walkin' Jim's "The Appalachian Trail" is a good one. I also like John Denver's "Looking for Space". The trail means something different to each person who hikes it, so the songs that bring the trail to mind are numerous.
