Many of the reasons I can't wait to get on the trail. It's the hardships that are my fondest memories.

Setting foot on Springer with a full pack and plans to hike to Maine is the first leg IMO. YMMV

What the heck? I ran into a few hikers at Neels that said you hiked the first 20 after you left on Saturday. Then they said you were spending the night on Blood. Shoot, I thought you blew past Neels before Trail Magic yesterday.

Hmmmmm....they must have found a weed patch before telling me this.

Oh, well. I hope your sidetrack was interesting.......:sun Called and left a message.

You had quite a day today. This is the rain we have been waiting over a year for in these parts. It was the Appalachian River for sure today. Nice weather awaits the next couple of days. Good luck and good hiking to you.

I just got off the phone with Wrongway and he's having a blast up at Neels Gap! He hiked through some of the worst rain known. His spirits are great, he's eating well, and ready to move on tomorrow.

Give em' hell Wrongway!!!!!!

First leg? Uh...getting to Harper's Ferry. :) Or Pine Grove Furnace, the halfway point.

But I was very relieved to make it out of the Smokies. Then hit bad weather after that. (snow twice)

I suppose. Though ISTM lots of folks can pull that part off -- it's mainly a matter of means (eg., money, freedom from responsibility, etc.) In terms of walking to K, it doesn't mean ****.

Hey Wrongway, I hiked over Blood Monday morning in the fog, good thing I didn't take a wrong turn like you did or I might have ended up walking over the edge. YIKES!

Anyone at Neels Gap notice anything in the bunkhouse that wasn't there before mid-February?

Hey Wrongway! Take care of those blisters, and don't forget to visit the Berry Patch when you get to Dick's creek gap.
At least you don't have to worry about water sources :).

I did an overnighter in New Hampshire tenting on three feet of snow the past two days. Rained first thing in the morning.

Take care and have a great time.

Congratulations, Wrongway, you've crossed the psychological 50-percent drop-out point (although that was not a valid statistic in '03).

After two bright days, comes the baptism by storm.
Welcome to the AT.
It''s just different thru-hiking; then, I'd walk through anything. One definitively gets in a "mode" to get the job underway and seen through.

Now, I'm inclined to "skim the cream," as my old buddy Chief says.

Congrads! The fun has just begun. Hope that the nickname Wrongway doesn't prove too many times to be right. I'll probably see you after Hot Springs. Sparky 2K
