View Full Version : Bear Mountain PO?
The companion said that the Bear Mtn. PO might be closing. I tried to call to confirm one way or the other and wasn't getting an answer. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks!

I don't remember seing it. There is one in Fort Montgomery, NY. It is in the same area as Bear Mountain. Just a mile or so off the trail. An easy walk with a sidewalk though.

The hours are VERY limited. Try calling within those hours if you have the direct number or call the 1-800 number.

Peanut, this is close to me - if you run into any problems here, give me a call, and maybe I can help. Also the crossing on Route 9 in Peekskill, East-of-Hudson, maybe 2-5 miles from Bear Mountain(?) is even closer to me.
Basically, anywhere from NY/NJ state line to crossing of I-84, ok?
I called and confirmed the 8-10 a.m M-F and the guy said that he thinks that after mid-May the hours with lengthen to 10-2 M-F...and thanks, Fivel, that makes me feel a lot better. I was contemplating the Ft. Montgomery one, even being further away, but knowing you're pretty close makes me feel better, that if I think I won't be there at the right time, that maybe you and I can work something out. Thanks!!

It's a little difficult to find that P.O. It's down behind what I think is the maintenance building? There were a lot of work trucks in the lot.
A really nice fellow helped me out there last year. The heat was kicking my butt and I didn't make it to there in time. I may also have had the hours wrong. I couldn't get a signal either on my cell. But I ended up calling the Ft. Montgomery PO and the fellow came over after his shift and opened the PO so I could get my maildrop:clap. Very kind of him.
