FS-71 in NC

Does anyone know if FS-71 in NC is going to open up this week? I've seen lots of posts where it opens 'around' March 15 each year. We are starting a section to Deep Gap this week and our pickup is depending on FS-71 being open by 3/22.

I was by there last Friday on my way to Asheville and there was no indication of it being closed at the junction with the main highway.

You can drive about a 1/4 of a mile in before you get to the gate.I have been told it opens on 3/15/08
