There was a lot of Italian stuff on the Menu behind the counter but I think also sandwiches & stuff. Breakfast, too. Nice lady.

What's right down the street from Relax Inn, isn't that in Groseclose, and Adkins further down the road?

Nic to have another choice there. The Red Barn place was ok.

Is Relax Inn still open? Is it decent to spend the night? Is it still the only choice right on I81? Going to be in the area to start a hike in a few weeks and thought about spending the night.

I remember their breakfest was pretty good.

I remember their breakfest was pretty good.It was, but the "veal parmesan" was neither veal nor parmesan. It was a leftover hamburger patty in canned tomato sauce with some chewy cheese on top. Stick to the basics there.

I've never had it any other way.

No, I mean literally, it was an obviously leftover hamburger patty buried in runny canned tomato sauce with chewy flavorless cheese on top and some really overcooked spaghetti somewhere under it or next to it, I don't remember which. I could barely eat it. The burgers were fine and breakfast was good.

I have stayed at the Relax Inn in 2004, 2005 and 2007. Sometime between 2005 and 2007 the ownership changed and the service and room cleanliness went downhill. It never was a 5 star but it was your typical rundown motel run by caring people. The new owner is surly, the rooms were filthy and moldy. The sheets on the bed we were offered had not been changed. The bathtub had been used by several hikers and was not cleaned. We at first thought it was an oversight until we got our second room.:mad::mad:

The previous owner was exceptionally friendly to hikers. The prices for shuttles and post office mailings have skyrocketed.

You're not kidding. A dive, but at least it has a shower and laundry. And somewhat of a bed. And malfunctioning AC and TV. But it was fine for us at the time.

Maildrops cost $5 even if you are staying there.
