I've noticed the Yahoo spiders are coming on in droves. Not sure why that's happening. Actual logged in users has been down, but that happens every year when it warms up.

Yep, the registered users are out in the woods hiking and the wannabee's (yahoo spiders) are on the web search for how to do it. By the time they think they have it all figured out, they will get one weekend in and that will be the end of it.

Actually the yahoo spiders are the search engines that catalog the database. Just so ya know. :)

I once squished a yahoo spider by mistake, I thought it was a little roachie.

Is that considered protein (?)

My bad.

As long as it was not a Webcrawler smiley, you should be OK!

Maybe an Administrator can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe WB shows a user "online" until the user actually "logs out." If the user simply leaves WB and goes to another site, without logging out of WB, then he's still officially shown as online back at WB.

Thus, the numbers might be deceiving? :-?

Good point Rainman - was thinking that myself, but I was afraid a spider would bite my butt.

But it's good to just read that stat, isn't it?

Whiteblaze.net is a good place to be. I appreciate this website and the administrators, hiker trash and wannabees too.

...and I would never squish such a beautiful spider as that. :sun

Just an awareness that long distance hiking is getting a lot of interest. Which also means easier hitches into towns - and plans of night hikes and stealth camps to avoid the crowds is part of my hiking plans for the spring.
