I would def go with the heavier floor. It is WELL worth the couple ounces. IMO, the lighter flooring will not hold up. YMMV

I went with the heavy floor. The Lunar's still under 1.5 lbs with pole & stakes so I didn't see the benefit of going with the lighter floor.

I own two of Ron's tents, the Europa 05 and the Lunar Duo, I have the lighter floor on both and have never had a problem.

I've got the 30D floor and have had the tent for over 2 years now without a problem. That said ...I do use a small piece of Tyvek as a ground cloth which I'm sure has had a sparing effect.

I've got the 30D floor with a Polycryo ground sheet (http://www.gossamergear.com/cgi-bin/gossamergear/polycryo_ground_cloth.html) (1.5 oz) underneath.

I use the heavier floor with NO groundcloth. Never any problems, including during a couple of very significant storms while on the Colorado Trail in 2006. I've been very happy with it, especially in not carrying the extra weight of a ground cloth.

I have the heavier floor and use a Tyvek ground cloth. A little over kill perhaps, but given how dirty the ground cloth is and how clean the floor of the tent stays it is worth it.

...especially in not carrying the extra weight of a ground cloth. The 70D floor weighs 3.5 ounces more than the 30D, so a Polycryo groundsheet at 1.5 ounces saves 2 ounces and provides more flexibility.

I just bought the Lunar Duo 2 weeks ago and I got the 70d. floor. A couple extra oz. is worth the thicker floor.

appreciate the replies. i suppose i'm leaning towards the heavy... gearwise, this is a major investment for me so i want to ensure many miles of service. thanks again.

:-? Still torn between the SMD Lunar Solo and the BA Seedhouse SL1:eek:I'd characterize your quandary as choosing between a single-wall versus a double-wall (actually netting and fly) setup. What's more important to you, weight or condensation? In my mind, a significant weight savings overrides a few damp mornings.
