Yes..Where exactly in VA?..Because that covers a LOT of ground..The area near Harpers Ferry is nice because aside from the AT you can do a lot of other cool things..Won $4000 at the casino in CharlesTown 2 weeks ago :D

Re. Shenandoah NP, let me elaborate. The southern district is generally less crowded. The highest point in the district is HighTop Mountain where a nice rocky outcropping provides great views westward. On a clear day, you can see the ridges of West Virginia.
In the central district, the trail passes very close to Hawks Bill, the highest point in the Park. A bit further north is Stony Man, the last 4,000 footer adjacent to the Trail until Killington.
I could go hiking in Northern VA or mid VA. What are the most spectacular day hikes in Shenandoah NP ?

(off the AT) -
Old Rag Mtn
White Oak / Cedar Run circuit hike (falls)
Doyles River / Jones Run circuit is nice with modest waterfalls
I also like some of the hikes that go into the Big Run area in the southern section and to Brown mtn, Rockytop
