I hit approach trail 4 April--having trouble waiting--.
What kind on snow conditions can I expect from Amicalola to Damascus (none I hope)? Accumulation at altitude? I'm working the problem goretx light boots vs low tops with gaitors. The sooner I can get into low tops/non goretx happier will be I.

What can be expected for nite temps at altitude? Day temps?

What is water source situation?

What ever it is I will do it.

There is a possibility of accumulating snow well into May across the higher elevations. Overnight temps in the teens and 20s are possible.

Although rare, there have been instances of heavy snowfall in the Smokies in April and May. One May storm left several feet of snow at Newfound Gap.

Wet weather over the last several months means that the water situation is good along the trail.
