Took a nice ten mile snowshoe up to the summit of Smart's Mountain to check on the Ranger's Cabin and old fire tower yesterday. Cabin was nice and dry inside, but cold. The fire tower was covered with about ten inches of ice and a little dicy to climb. Four more windows broken since last summers repair dammit.

The trail up from Jacob's Brook had snow depths ranging from three to seven feet of snow. In places the white blaze was at snow level. Hopefully all this won't melt quickly or else trail washouts will be massive.

Very crunchy snow at Stratton (ski area) this last weekend. I've climbed the mountain twice, but it was my first time skiing there. At one point I finally saw the fire tower. It made me smile.
