Great job on above info for those fortunate enough to attempt a THRU but how about us lowly SECTION hikers?

Hey AT Troll,

EXCELLENT idea with this. Nice to see the names of people. Can't believe there's so many just on this website. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately...who knows) my girlfriend and I will be starting in March now. Hopefully the 24/25th.

Also I was meaning to ask you...is there room on the WB site to have a database like this one of all users. I expect it would be quite an undertaking but I was thinking there could be fields for every member to fill out. Personal details such as name, contact etc but also gear lists etc.

Just an idea, but let me know if it's feasible.

Thankyou so much for this site. Without it I doubt my dream of hiking the AT would have ever come true. See you all in a few months.

Matt

Troll,
Unless something drastic happens(I still haven't sold my house), it looks like I WILL NOT(damn it), be a 04 thru. I needed to sell it (for extra money) to carry out other plans after the thru. I will be at Springer the last week of March to help a friend start her thru hike. Man it hurts to write this and say I won't be in the class of 04. :(

Hello all, as you can see my name is Gobo and I will be beginning my adventure in late February. During my hike I will be having to come home for a few days at a time. Hopefully this will enhance my adventure by letting me travel with many different people. Hopefully I will get to meet you if your reading this. I'm a 30 year old retired correction officer, due to injuried in the line of duty, from the state of New Jersey. The point of my adventure is to prove to myself and to others that the injuries that I have accumalated during my military and law enforcement careers can be overcome. I'm sure everyone has there reasons for embarking on this adventure and I hope to speak to as many of you as possible about these reasons:welcome . During our adventures we will all have our times of doubt, just try to remember that which does not kill us makes us stronger.

Well, I didn't win the lottery. But I did just find out I'm getting "downsized". Even though I have no experience, no equipment, and little money, the phrase "now or never" keeps going through my mind. Put me back on the list, tentative departure date April 1.

hi

thanks for keeping on updating this list - appreciate it

i have finally set my start date to thru-hike SOBO on July 10th 2004..

spending July 4th with my family and my mom's b-day is july 6th..will take a day or 2 to drive up to ME with my dad..so the 10th sounds like a good date to start..nice round even number..also the KScampground is packed and i was able to request a lean-to for that night..

so a little late start but that's the best i can do - mom is happy, so i'm happy..and i hike pretty quickly, naturally anyways..

know of anyone else beginning around then??

please post my start date - thanks a bunch

p.s - how do you do these trailjournals online anyway??
